Another excellent afternoon at overcombe corner, The missus & the kids came down today, when we arrived it was drizzly & didnt seem that windy, there was a few out at the bandstand but it wasnt very inviting. So we had some lunch & popped in a few of the amusement parks etc! Trying to avoid the now Torrential rain.I suggested we pop along overcombe cafe for a coffee then shoot on home if things didnt improve.
Whilst driving along the rain stopped & it looked alot brighter out to sea,we had a coffee & watched several windsurfers get on,the wind was increasing slowly with most on 5.7ish & planning, result.
So i rigged 5.7m & 86lt board & hit the water, with cross onshore there was plenty of ramps & lumpy waves for jumping & backside stuff.
Big jumps were 1 after the other with some big swell for gybing on out the back, the 5.7 soon became way too much so a quick change down to 5.0m, some to 4.5m.
Ive been trying tabletops lately, more of a donkey kick at the moment & the main problem being flat landings, not being good for ankles. After a few runs everything felt good & with peaking waves over head high i went for a backloop, couldnt believe it straight up, rotated into wind, looked down & then came down at mach 10 & landed in a heap. But hey that was Ace, so nearly every run out from then on, up & round i'd go, landings-no chance, but who cared not me, it was a real buzz & took windsurfing to a new level for me.i cant wait to get out & try some more.
Thanks to the missus for taking some photos & keeping the kids occupied.
